***** I came in late on this thread, but let me relate my story regarding a
battery going dead at random.
Car would work fine for a few days. Then, at random, usually in the morning,
the battery was weak or dead. This was going on for about 3 weeks.
The culprit was the after-run relay for the radiator fan. The relay has an
electronic timer built into it to shut off the fan after 10 minutes of
operation.
The relay in my car had a mind of its own. It would turn on at random after
the car was shut off.
One day, when I was putzing around in the garage, I heard the fan go on. The
car had not been run for several hours.
I think the relay is located in the auxiliary relay panel.
Yank out the relay whenever you leave the car overnight, or when you park
somewhere for extended periods.
If the battery acts fine during this test period, the culprit is the relay.
I got my "new" replacement relay in the junkyard.
