Well, they were right until the butchering part...

Yeah, something in your brakes is broke.  And that dealer is not only 
incompetent, they are dishonest.  As I was reading your story, I looked 
back at the age of the car and thought... this things only 3-4 years 
old?  Isn't there a warranty or something?

You could always bring it to a real mechanic and have them fix it (maybe 
that second dealer you're going to has one or two?).
