aftermarket 90q front ball joints-are they crap?

Hey Roy - That has been my experience as well. I bought a full replacement
set of upper + lower control arms, tie rod ends and hardware from
germanautoparts.com [they were quite good to deal with and had very good
prices].

the kit [brand name 'optimal'] was as tuv certified, made in germany, etc
etc but the quality was way inferior to meyle, febi let alone oem. The tre's
crushed when I installed them [tightened the upper bolt] and the machining
and assembly under the little boot was really bad. I sent the optimal tre's
back for a set of meyle HD's and they were better, but still not as nice as
oem.
