Book value and tell them you want reimbursed for the RECENT work (don't be
greedy, provide receipts). It should work and at least make you reasonably
"whole." My father once got a car stolen in NYC and he had receipts for
EVERYTHING as well as pictures (showing the car was mint). They paid more
than "book" value because he proved it was well maintained. From
recollection, insurance paid book plus receipts for the prior 6 months of
work.
