Hey Al,
I just worked on my lock cylinder today.
It's actually not a big deal.
Remove Steering wheel, Instrument cluster and combination switches. Remove
ignition switch from the back of cylinder lock housing. Undo the tamper
proof torx screw holding the lock housing. Remove the two bolts holding the
steering column (just behind the Instrument cluster) that will give you enough
play to get the housing out.
Then you can do your drilling and get the lock cylinder out of the housing.
Pop a new one in, and away you go.
My lock cylinder started working properly as soon as I got it out -- had to
be something gummed up with the steering wheel lockout mechanism -- so I just
put everything back together and can now start and stop my engine using a
key like a normal human being. How refreshing.
Good luck with your wife, your car and the Sugar Bowl!

Tom,
Something I saw in the Bentley today may help you, if it becomes necessary.
Removing the steering shaft. There are two bolt/nuts down where the shaft
goes through the firewall. These may be removed and the shaft lowered from the
dash. Keep the key in the unlocked position so you can turn the shaft as
necessary.
Hope it helps. I have to wait a while to do mine. My wife is having surgery
on Monday, to remove a cancerous growth in her colon and I need the car to
transport her to and from the hosp. Normally we take advantage of the bus here
on Oahu, but the hospital won't let her ride the bus to come home.
Good luck on your project.
Al
