V8 Coupe, etc.

Geriant,

A few interesting tid-bits to consider:

1) The V8 weighs ~63 lbs less than the inline-5.
2) The V8 is physically shorter by (1) cylinder which moves the balance
further to the rear.
3) The battery will have to be reloacted to the rear which moves another ~40
lbs from the front to back.
4) The V8 should easily provide that sort of horsepower without turbo/super
charging.

I have considered many different approaches to raising the fun-factor in the
Coupe. Hard to beat the performance per dollar spent of a small-block
Chevy. I even considered the awesome power-to-weight potential of a
turbocharged rotary engine. In the end I opted to keep it all-Audi.

A good friend owned a V8Q with a 5-speed. Driving his car was what truly
convinced me. That little V8 is a great engine! I think with some
digital-tuning of the injection and a good exhaust it will be a lot of fun
in a lighter chassis.

If only I could get the Coupe to be as comfortable to drive as the 4KQ.
Even after all these years I'm not convinced the Torsen setup is better
than the manual-locking diffs of the 4KQ. I may just back-date the car to
that system.
