I too own a A4 Avant and find myself driving the old 4kq's more often than 
the newer car. As a matter of fact I just bought a pristine 1984 4kq for my 
new car and keep the A4 for the wife. I do keep all 4 door handles stocked 
in my basement though. Got to. I have (2) 4kq's ;-)
