Shift into Neutral to save TO Bearing?

I was taught (by my father) exactly what someone else here said...
"most of the wear on the throw-out bearing is every time it gets engaged and
disengaged. So by shifting into neutral, I'd imagine you'd actually
increase the wear (2 cycles per stop as opposed to 1).
That's precisely why my father insisted that I NOT put his cars into Neutral
when he was teching me to drive (long long ago)...but I didnt know if the
technology of TO bearings had changed enough to change this...
