yeah i'm not too sure what bad can [will?] come of redlining a cold
motor. if it's been running for a minute or 2 there ought to be
sufficient oil in the engine.
at my gf's house, the highway onramp is about 3 minutes from her
place, and it's a dodgy on/off merge deal where you have to pretty
much punch it to not get killed by some vapid, blond marininiite
ensconced in a gold plated suv with a dolce+gabanna razr glued to her
ear [what me, bitter? nah..] and massive wraparound welding-mask-dark
coco channell shades on that stomp out all hope of peripheral vision.
so yeah, i PUNCH it just as the temp needle is waking up. love that
2nd > 3rd shift at 7grand on a cold motor to slingshot yourself into
rush hour traffic.
i did read recently in bike mag that one of the motogp mechanics
recommended gentle warmup because the rush of cold radiator juice when
the tstat opens into a prematurely hot motor is, like, bad or
something? but that's mc's.. way less metal, exotic materials, tighter
tolerances, way more hp/litre, etc... probably not as big a deal in a
car engine. especially vag with traditionally looser tolerances.
