I think you are right, based on my reading of the manual for my ole
chebby truck (!). What happens is during the "swipe," the circuit is
maintained through a moving part in the wiper mechanism. If the switch
is turned "off," when the mechanism hits that plastic part, ie, no
contact, there is no power and the motor stops. If the switch is still
"on," power is still there to keep the motor moving.
In other words, that contact acts as a switch in parallel with the
switch inside the car.
