Sounds like an unusual clutch cylinder failure mode.  As in, somehow, 
your slave cylinder is stuck in the "actuated" position, and the master 
won't move either.  I guess that could make sense - slave sticks, and 
when you let up on the pedal, more fluid runs into master, now there is 
nowhere to go.

Sure, pedal pushes master cylinder (on or inside firewall), fluid runs 
through hard line to slave cylinder (on top of tranny), slave pushes 
throwout bearing to disengage clutch.

You might be able to release the system by bleeding it (just open slave 
bleeder & cross your fingers), although the slave is probably bunged 
mechanically, not hydraulically.

I'd plan on a new slave and master, and might as well do the hard line 
between them at the same time.  While removing the old slave, you might 
be able to tell if it seems that there are additional problems inside 
the bell housing jamming the slave.  If that's the case, you'll be doing 
a clutch job as well.

None of this is technically "fun."
