The 200.. a couple of different issues might exist. 1st, the car cutting
out. Chances are that this is a RPM sensor (would also cause the
bouncing speedo). 2nd the 200's IC's are prone to electrical problems.
Check out the AudiFans Twiki or search this forum, there are many
discussions on the repair of the 200's IC. 

So for the 5k, I have no specific exp with, but if I were to guess, I'd
say an electrical connection, disassemble and use DeOxit or similar
stabiliant when you re-assemble.
