How to remove door trim on '96 A6

I have not done this on a C4.
But in general, the clips are mounted to the interior door piece, and 
pop into holes in the metal door.
I have always used a putty knife to slowly work them loose.

Congrats on the much larger job, I'm always leery about doing that one. 
Errors are so costly.
