If you want to avoid/reduce overheating you can crack open the coolant cap
on top of the overflow tank 1/2 a trun or whatever it is and your coolant
system won't pressurise.  Engine runs cooper, uses more fuel but should run
longer.

Terrible idea IMHO ... The adventure of swapping a head gasket might not be
as spine-tingling as driving a ready to blow car but if you have time better
try to fix it with detailed instructions form this list.  Then you might
have a car for next year, too.
