NG with blown head gasket...how long can it run like that?

switch from Iowa to Miami and back. Only problem was I
forgot to put more water in when I got to South Beach.
The stop and go traffic almost got the best of me
since the fan didn't want to run. We made it home and
I drove the car until I finally bought another 
Audi!
