On my particular speedo, there is no "needle stop" - the stop must be 
built in to the gizmos on the back, so all I have to do is put it back 
on at "zero."  I looked this over before dismantling, of course.

If your speedo has a needle stop at zero, I would suggest, with no btdt, 
that you lift it carefully over the stop so it drops to whatever its 
rest position is (somewhere below zero, I guess), mark that or take note 
of it, and put it back on exactly there.

And, when I say "zero," I think I actually mean "10" mph or so - as I 
recall the older mechanical speedos, and the electronic one I am looking 
at, don't go down to zero, they start around 10 mph or so.
