type 89 speedo data information?

Having done similar R+R, my difficulty was in deciding where to put the
needle back on? Maeaning it is not indexed and although the needle may
have a pin to rest against at zero the shaft and internals don't. In the
past I got lucky, trial and error. any suggestions?
