Not sure that would have worked well here - the "shaft," about 3-4 mm in
diamter, is part of the needle, and the "real" shaft, the part that
stayed behind, is like 1/2 mm in diamater, and can't be touched with the
needle in place. I went at it with a tweezers first, tweezers not
sturdy enough to push hard enough (tips bent). Then I grabbed a
not-so-small screwdriver and levered quite forcefully under each side
and suddenly the needle was on the floor. Hope it goes back on just as
"easily!"
Part of my comfort level with getting rough was that I have at least two
of these things to play with, if I broke one "learning" I could apply
the knowledge gained to fix another one.
