high performance street tires?

Had to add my experience, having driven all sorts of vehicles in all sorts
of conditions.

I am sure there are situations where one needs winter snows on a quattro,
but that rarely happens on the east coast and probably 1% in the worst areas for
snow. I drove a rear wheel drive motorhome half way up the mountain in
Park City one winter. Did it with snows all but one week. Six to twelve inch
snows every night forced me to put the chains on.

Here in PA, my quattro has Yoke AVS summer tires and is fine in the snow,
gotta be careful but they work. Better then all seasons on a front wheel
drive car at least. You can't have one tire for all year if you like to drive
hard. Actually you can't have one car that works all year. My 80TQ has too
little ground clearance to go out many days.

Another observation. I put cheap Kumhos on my MR2, it is actually nice to
break loose a little earlier. High performance doesn't have to be the only
way to have fun.
