there was a bit on cartalk not long ago where this question came up. they
cited research that determined that modern cars faired [oooh..] better with
the windows closed and the ac on as the drag with open windows is greater
overall than parasitic loss from ac being on. i don't recall what cars were
in the research, etc. it's obviously a very broad claim. seems to make sense
tho, i'm always amazed at how much less pedal is needed to keep the a4 at
speed all closed up vs open.
At $3.00+ per gal of premium, it costs me over $35 per day round trip to

jeez that's cheap. i'm paying 3.85 in SF. i guess that's ONE benefit of
living in tx.. ;-)
