Ah, ok.  So maybe the vagcom interferes with the way the ECU wants to 
control the waste gate, but that is irrelevant to your issue.

Aren't you supposed to be able to run the car with vagcom attached?  if 
so, maybe your ECU is tweaked a bit, it's a long shot but maybe the same 
thing that is causing the richness is why it won't work right with 
vagcom connected?

I'll get really fundamental here and ask you how the ECU grounds are...
