Steve, I'd recommend jumping over to VW Vortex or another VW site and get a
poll going to see what everyone else is getting!

As to commuting... That's what got me into a 5000cs in the first place. Was
doing 140 miles roundtrip, and the new to me Grand Cherokee was a thirsty
one, and old enough it rode like a truck. The 5000 got apx 30mpg at 74ish
MPH, and it got better mileage at that speed than 65ish. Might have been
something to do with the chip? Apx 50 miles of the ride (each way) was the
NYS thruway, going north, so a pretty mindless drive, cruise on 74ish
depending on if anyone was going faster!

The last car I was using for the commute was the 200 20V. Was only getting
about 25 with that... Glad I'm not doing that anymore! Starting to hate the
prices on the super!
