ABS Light

Got the 'new A6QA running yesterday and took it out for a test spin.
The engine feels good but I've uncovered a couple more problems that
need to be addressed.. It has a bad outer tie rod end on the driver's
side, a small leak in the exhaust, a flashing 'brake' light and a
solidly lit ABS light in the instrument cluster, and the brake pedal is
s little soft. I flushed the brake fluid with no change. Is the
flashing 'brake' light due to a pad wear sensor (like my p-cars)? Any
advise on how to diagnose the ABS light problem?

Also, when I had the cam covers off checking the cam timing, I
noticed that the chain tensioners look somewhat like the ones used in 16
valve 944s and 32 valve 928s. The 944s and 928s have an issue with the
pads on the tensioners wearing, then breaking and causing the chain to
snag on the tensioner, breaking the chain, ripping off the tensioner,
stripping the teeth off the cams, and bending some valves. Has this
been an issue on the Audi motors? There was some slight wear in the
pads on my engine, but nowhere as bad as the ones we just replaced on a
16v 944.
