I have heard that "acceptable" results can be obtained. However I have never
tried it. My advice was to feather the border around the missing clear coat.
1000 grit was recommended. It appears that the "color coat" may be thinner
than ordinary paint, so caution is advised. Several layers of clear
(Duplicolor) to bring it above level then sand level finishing with 1000-1500 grit.
Again, I've never tried it. It was cautioned that the repair would only be
"acceptable", as compared to stripping and repainting.
