Some places add insult to injury. When a rotted tree planted in the
sidewalk fell on the 5KS, the City of Boston would only accept the claim
application if it was submitted with a non refundable $5 fee. This
municipal scam has the Nigerians beat, AFAIK they've NEVER reimbursed
anyone voluntarily for any damage, pothole or otherwise. Same story just
about everywhere, municipalities and states only pay out on superior
court cases years later, and those usually involve personal injury.
Just write it off, if you chose not to, you'll be here on some other
board in a few years telling others to "just write it off."
