removeing the front struts from a 88 5KTQ

I'm thinking the sway bar is what is holding up the whole strut assembly.
As I recall, you need to remove the three top nuts, the sway bar, the
steering linkage and the axle nut to take out the whole assembly.

I'm not sure how you will get the axle nut off with the wheels in the air.
Maybe you can take the half shaft with the strut assembly if you can get the
half shaft off the differential.
