broken hood cable 97 cabby

Grab the cable behind the latch lever with pliers and pull it further.  This
allowed me enough travel to get by the broken plastic mounts.

Hi gang, does anyone know a good (read damage free) way to open the hood on
a B4 car when one of the latches isn't disengaging? When the handle is
pulled inside the car, the passenger side opos ok but the drivers side
doesn't budge. Any suggestions?
