broken hood cable 97 cabby

On my 87 Scirocco, also a dula latch system, an occasional rap on the corner
of the hood(near ther windshield) while pulling the release lever works. The
cable should probably be tightened a bit. This is done on the ps horn which
should have a screw to loosen and pull the cable tighter.
If that doesn't work a hook through, I have used a long crochet needle, to
pull on the cable. You may be able to see it through the grill.
If all of this doesn't work the other 2 alternatives are to lay under the
front end to try to reach the cable, or remove the ps headlight to provide
access.
Good luck,
John

Hi gang, does anyone know a good (read damage free) way to open the hood on
a B4 car when one of the latches isn't disengaging? When the handle is
pulled inside the car, the passenger side opos ok but the drivers side
doesn't budge. Any suggestions?

TIA,
Todd
