Market value issue

I helped my father go through this years ago. What increased the value was
documentation. Receipts for work done over the past several years, retail
price guides, recent sales or ads showing retail value. The insurance must
"make you whole" and you buy on the retail market, not wholesale. In other
words, to be whole, you need to purchase a pristine car and pay someone to
build a new engine. Threaten to sue to be made whole and you won't settle
for a unrealistically low value of your exceptional vehicle.
We had pictures of the car prior to the accident and receipts showing
professional detailing, etc.
The truth of the matter is that you won't get as much for it as you think
you should, but $2700.00 isn't enough to even replace the engine.
Good luck... it's no fun!
