Just a few questions since there is a lot of discussion pointing toward the
water pump causing the timing belt failures.
I have a 2,8 30v.
Are not water pump problems much more common on the 1.8 and rare on the 2.8?
I had a small coolant leak for over a year (about 4oz/month), could never
find where it was coming from. Just recently it started losing about 2oz a day
and I started to notice a small coolant spot on the ground. I traced the
leak to dripping off the oil pan, coming from the front right front of the
engine. I assume that this is a water pump leak. It doesn't leak a drop when
running or when you first shut off, about 2~3 hours after cooling down a small
puddle will show up.
The first T-belt job was done at 90K and now I got about 70K on this TB. I
was going to wait to 180K for the next TB job (another 20K) or at least till
summer time when it's more covenant to work on the car.
So the question is ......Does a water pump leak indicate a pending water
pump failure?
Thanks
Jim
