This very much mirrors my thoughts. I was pondering this thread today
while installling a transmission in a Syncro Vanagon-fun. Anyhow, my
first car was an Audi Fox, and I'm not dead. I drove fast, still do
(I'm 32, with no accidentsl to my credit). But, I have always taken
driving very seriously. I think It's something you can have great fun
with (I road race/autocross as well) but something that the basics
should be tought to first. Otherwise, why not just put all of our
children in an A8/S-class/7 series and tell them not to worry, they
are in a "safe" car.
