Do not put ATF on top of mineral oil. About 10 years ago a well-meaning but
mis-guided mechanic topped up the pentosin reservoir in my '91 200 with ATF.
In about 10 miles it blew the seals out of the power steering pump.  I
limped home and replaced the pump and flushed the system. Afterwards I
looked at the shop invoice, saw the ATF and realized what happened.  

As they say, don't let this happen to you.......
