98 A6 window issue

That sounds like a binding issue of some sort. It's the "pinch
protection" as you probably have guessed by now. You probably need to
disassemble the entire window regulator and sube. Hopefully you don't
find a bad cable. It's probably about to get frayed or otherwise
damaged if it hasn't already. The best thing to do with these window
regulators and dissassemble and lube at the first sign of trouble.

As for the rears, I really have no helpful advice other than to ohms
check the lockout switch while you have the door panel off. Make sure
it's making contact when pushed in, not just lighting/unlighting (is
that even a word?). Also, you might check/clean the rear switches. Oh,
one thing to check, does the rear cigarette lighter get power when the
switch is pushed in? It should be tied to the lockout also.
