the S-Tronic the automated manual or the CVT trans? Oh wait, that's
Multi-tronic. So, in effect, you ARE getting a manual trans with
the 2.0T, just with an automated clutch! But I agree, a traditional 6-speed would be nice.
Hmmm,
have been thinking about a small hatchback for my wife, who just
started a job with the visiting nurses. She could use a small
hatchback
for the space to carry her stuff and for some protection from inclement
weather while getting her supplies out of the car.
Maybe an A3 2.0Tq S-tronic..... Wonder what the pricing will be like? >>
I recently drove a STaSIS tuned TT mkII with that powertrain fpr a few days and for the first time ever I was glad to have a transmission that shifts for me. It shifted much faster and smoother than I ever could hope to with a stick shift, and the revs come up so fast (heavily mod'ed 2.0T that was around 300HP) there was no time to think about anything except what was way down the road ahead.
I could only image what a STaSIS Signature Series A3Tq S-tronic would be like and (tuned or stock) think it may be the perfect combination in a small new Audi. Of the four STaSIS Signature Series cars I have driven to date (A4 Ultrasport, A3, TT MkII, and now the incredible S5 I am enjoying this week) I like the A3 the best as a daily driver, and for sleeper potential. The 2.0T FWD with STaSIS toys was a mind blowing car that got incredible fuel mileage and is reasonably priced too. For a daily driver I think the A3 may be my favorite new Audi. (Then again the "newest" of my present four Audis is a 1995 A6q avant with almost 200k.)
