The system is controlled through buttons along the edge of the navigation screen which is located in the center console. Becasue the nav screen is in the center console location it's very difficult to look at the map while driving to see what's on the route ahead. Another negative is that it's very expensive to update the map dvd it uses. The map dvd goes for almost $300 from the dealer and not much less from the map vendor. I find that theTomTom that I use in my Allroad and V8 is just as easy in setting up a route, easier to view since I can mount in a more easily viewed spot, and is definitely cheaper to update. The updates are free.George
