favor and get one of one of those. . .

Sell your '80 q and buy one.

The money you spend to upgrade with seem paltry in comparison to what a
conversion would cost. And you might find one that's been tastefully
upgraded with a chip, exhaust, etc at a price you can afford.

If you want to upgrade, you can't go wrong by getting into an early S4.
