Light Bulbs

We are legally stuck with a 55 watt input, so more light = shorter life.
Sylvania shows 85 hrs life for the SilverStar Ultra's compared to 520 for
regular halogens. That's 6X the life.
Now my observations.....
1. I found a BIG improvement in night vision with the Ultra's, but I am 63
and have 'old eyes'. My son's don't see that much difference (younger
eyes).
2. So far I have over a year on my Ultra's. From reading some of the
reports (especially since my wife always drives with the lights on in the day) I
had expected them to burn out by now. One of the nice things about my A4
is I can rotate the high & low beams (you rotate your tires, don't you?) so
now I am on a 'fresh' set of rotated lows. If I make it another year, will
switch back and hold my breath.
3. Headlights aren't any different than household light bulbs, sometimes
you burn one out days after being installed, and then there are the one or
two bulbs in the house which must have operated 10X their rated life.

If someone knows of a better bulb than the Ultra's please let me know and I
will give them a try. I find H7 Ultra's on eBay for~ $22, the extra vision
is worth it.
