Back in the old days (and I am talking the OLD days) when Max Hoffman was the importer for BMW cars,
I was working for him. I started as a stock puller and I guess once they discovered I had at least
half a brain, knew something about cars and could actually speak a bit of German, they promoted me a
couple of times and I wound up running the warranty department for the east half of the US.

One fine day we had a big discussion about why the differentials were failing in the 1800ti cars. (I
told you this was a long time ago).

Turns out they were made by a company named Gleason, which the troops from the Fatherland (of which
there were many) always pronounced "Gleezon".

Bet you didn't know that Rochester NY is part of the Black Forest!

Und alzo, we haff eggselent air conditioning in out new 2002 models, ve import zem specially from a
company called "Frigi-King" which is in another part of the Black Forest. They are in the part known
as "Dallas".

So I guess team doorhandle has a precedent for the GM air conditioner stuff in the 5K series.

What I'm seeing is that cars are becoming more and more like computers. Nobody actually MAKES
computers, they assemble them from modules sourced from smaller suppliers, and those modules are
assembled from components sourced from even smaller suppliers, and those components - you get the
idea . . .
