'86 4000cS Quattro - Shift Linkage Bushings

Not likely IMO ... most of the issues I've seen on these cars that leads to
shifter vagueness is at the transmission end ... a loose ball on the shift
linkage at the transmission shift rod or deteriorated bushings at the same
location or on the locating rod that attaches to the bellhousing.

A drivetrain built to handle 500-odd hp?  Naw.  Probably just needs some 
shift linkage bushings to tighten things up.  BTDT on all my 20-27 year 
old Audis.
