I've been lubing those tubes (actually, the inner sliding surface of the 
bearing) since Porsche and Audi school in 1973, and have yet to have a 
problem with doing so.  As I near retirement, I see no reason to change 
my practice.  I have no issue with those who choose to go the other 
route, however.  John
