I first want to thank all the q-listers for their input. Since I did not
have a extra 17mm open end laying around to sacrifice, I purchased a pair of
4LN Vice Grips. This is a small needle nosed pair and for $12 a welcome
addition to my tool box. Using the vice grips and an impact wrench I was
able to loosen the nut on the known good donor fuel pump. The bad pump on my
car was another story......impossible. Since this pump was trash anyway, I
just cut off the electrical studs and unscrewed the banjo coupling and check
valve as a unit. At this point you can get a box wrench on the check valve
and everything comes apart. The correct attitude will save you a lot of
time...... if you know that the pump is bad......just cut off the terminals.
Again..... Thanks
Jim
