I initially thought CARS was going to help me replace my '89 Chevy K3500 with something new, cheap and fuel efficient. The '89 gets 10 MPG on a good day (7.4l engine) but it is classed as a type 3 truck by CARS; it has a GVWR > 8500 lbs. That means I can only replace it with another type 3 truck rather than getting this fuel hog off the road and replaced with something way more fuel efficient, the CARS program makes me replace it with a 3/4 or 1 Ton truck. But I don't want another truck! Outa luck. But it's Ok, I drive it maybe 500 miles a year.
OTOH, anyone want a low (63K) mileage tow vehicle?

'86 5Ks Avant (not CARS eligible)
'89 Chevy K3500 (CARS will let me buy a 1-Ton heavy duty new truck but I don't want to)
'99 A6 Avant (not CARS eligible anyway)
'02 TTQR (worth more than CARS allowance)
'06 GTI (already better MPG than most CARS eligible new vehicles)
'07 Q7 4.2P (... but it's fun!)
