It tries to connect to the "mother" server for VAG/FA for price/parts and
software updates. Unless you're an authorized dealer, I wouldn't try
connecting. In Vista it's better to just leave the little window open in
the back ground and close it when you're done with the FA, it doesn't
bother you for the info that way. You might also have to go into task
manager to make sure it doesn't keep running after you're done with the
FA.
