Ooo, I'll be interested in your real-world experiences with the car. The lease 
expires on our van on Dec 1, and we are
looking to downsize. The Jetta SW TDI is one car I want to look at, even 
though I think it will be a bit small for our needs.
Too bad they don't put the TDI in the Passat wagon.....

One of the guys at the place I worked at last year had the 2007 Jetta tdi. 
It's a very comfortable car for 4 average sized adults. He had the sedan but I 
did sit in the wagon version at the dealership and it felt like it had about 
the same amount of space as the early A4 avants.

My co worker was getting regularly almost 50 mpg whenever he did the 2 hour 
trip from central NJ to the northern part of Pennslyvania, this was almost all 
highway mileage. When he drove locally he was getting about 40 plus mpg. He 
loves the car, says it is very quiet and smooth for a diesel.
