No Reverse!

I agree with the "adjustment" comments.  I'm sure your tranny, like most 
manuals, presents a little "obstacle" to getting into reverse, something 
you have to push or pull in order to do it (on my old 5 speeds you have 
to push the knob down to move a widget past an obstruction).  If, for 
instance, an engine or tranny mount has caused the tranny to shift 
position slightly, altering the exact alignment of the actuation levers 
and rods, you may no longer be able to get around that little obstacle. 
  Another possible (more likely I think) source of the misalignment 
would be wear or play in the shift linkage or even the "obstacle" itself.

Can you remove the shift boot etc. and get a look at the levers and 
reverse lockout mechanism (assuming it's mechanical, not electronic...)?
