No Reverse!

Awkward!! Took it down to my local (trusted) shop this am. Guy jumped in, and after a little working, got it into reverse.
Seems to work fine now. Of course, I will hear about this the next couple of times I have to bring one of my cars in for service!
He said he thought the rod might have been jammed somehow.

I agree with the "adjustment" comments. I'm sure your tranny, like most manuals, presents a little "obstacle" to getting into reverse, something you have to push or pull in order to do it (on my old 5 speeds you have to push the knob down to move a widget past an obstruction). If, for instance, an engine or tranny mount has caused the tranny to shift position slightly, altering the exact alignment of the actuation levers and rods, you may no longer be able to get around that little obstacle. Another possible (more likely I think) source of the misalignment would be wear or play in the shift linkage or even the "obstacle" itself.

Can you remove the shift boot etc. and get a look at the levers and reverse lockout mechanism (assuming it's mechanical, not electronic...)?

Any ideas on what the problem might be? Oh, this is a manual 6-speed. I'm bringing it to the shop tomorrow but figured I would ask for potential issues.
