No Reverse!

Well, many newer cars have such a synchronised reverse gear. 

01X 311 762A is what I found for this car : Item 28 , in ETKA (A4Q, 2004, group 3, subgroup 11, page 311-60) is shown as a "reverse gear, synchronizing hub".

So if the hydraulic circuit is not perfect, or the clutch is worn and sticking, the reverse gear would be impossible to attain with the engine running. Without that synchro, you would hear grinding noise when trying.

Dan, did you tested it with the engine off ?

Is reverse syncronised in these cars? Many cars don't have a  
syncronised reverse at all.
