Speedo Cable Repair - NAC, but some VWC so still in the family

... most GPS units have some sort of speedo built in ... if you happen to
have one you might use that.

Speaking of GPS units, I bought the bottom of the line Sony unit for my mom
for Christmas ... Sears had them on sale for a shade under U$80 (Navman U44
if memory serves) ... I was suitably impressed by the text to speech
capability in such a cheap unit.

I suspect solder might not be strong enough, you ought to try brazing it.

I see no reason why a hack job shouldn't sort kinda work for a few weeks.

On my 82 coupe I got tired of breaking speedo cables at the OXS counter 
box, so I managed to find a one piece cable, but that was years ago. 
Don't know if a cable from another car would fit your beast, but I guess 
you've got the right "wrong" part on the way already.
