OK, so which is which?  I've had 7 quattros and don't know squat about
center diffs, but can attest to the following after driving them all in
Montana winters:        

'84 4kq  - best balanced handling overall, especially after modified the
selector to lock rear diff first

'90 CQ (x2) - worst handling, pushed like a fat lady at the candy store

'91 200q (x2) - OK, a lot of initial push but can be manhandled into
oversteer

'87 5ktqa - better than the 200, but still pushed initially

'01 S4a - pretty darn good, especially with good snows and the ESP off
