2006+ Passat 4WD

Perhaps this is due to the 2006/7/8/9 VW Passat PQ46 chassis being a side mounted engine?  The "B6" Passat is not the twin of the A4 Audi on sale now.  With the "B5" Passat & A4 they were clearly cut from the same cloth.

I read somewhere the B5.5 (late version B5) was too good of a car and VW decided the next generation needed to be a bigger version of the Jetta.  I own a 2006 Passat and had a neighbor with the B5.5.  It was very clear VW "cheapened" the Passat with the current generation.

Not that it is a bad car, mind you...
